James Alexander Morton, son of James and Jane Morton 31 Fourth Street, Shankill Road, Belfast, lived with his wife, Mary Jane, son Thomas at 4 Anglesea Street, Shankill Road, Belfast.
James enlisted into the Royal Irish Rifles.
He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Forces on the 13th of November 1914.
James was a Sergeant in the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action, shot by a sniper, on the 27th May 1915.
A local newspaper states.
Sergeant J A Morton, 4th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, killed in action in Flanders. He was a son of Mr James Morton 31 Fourth Street, and his widow lives at 4 Anglesea Street, Belfast.

He received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914-1915 Star.
