William Arnold Henderson, son of Robert and Mary Henderson, lived at 19 Eighth Street, Shankill Road Belfast.

The 1901 Ireland Census has William living at 10 Byron Place, Belfast with his mother, father, and sister, Ellen, 9 years. His fathers occupation is given as a Mechanic in Foundry Brand Finisher.

The 1911 Ireland Census has William living at 13 Walton Street, Belfast with his father, Brass Finisher, mother, sister Ellen, 19 years, Warp Winder In Factory. Williams occupations at this time is given as a General Labourer.

He was also a member of the Orange Order within Crystal Spring L.O.L 308.

William joined the Royal Irish Rifles.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Forces.

William Arnold, aged 22 years, was a Corporal in C Company 2nd Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles, when he was Killed In Action on the 16th June 1915 while serving in France.

A local newspaper states.

Mrs Henderson, of 19 Eighth Street, Belfast, has received official notification that her son, Rifleman William A. Henderson (6528) 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, was killed in action in France on the 16th ult. Deceased, who was a reservist, employed at Highfield Factory, was a member of Crystal Spring L.O.L. 309.

Pension Application Forms show his mother, born 1863, as claimant.

His Soldiers Effects were also left to his mother, Mary.

He received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914-1915 Star.

He is Remembered at the Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium.
