George Munce, son of Robert and Agnes Munce, lived at 67 Tobergill Street, Shankill Road, Belfast.

The 1901 Ireland Census has George living at 19 Eton Street, Shankill Road, Belfast with his mother, father, occupation, Butcher, four sisters, Ann Jane, 19 years, Spinner (Mill), Agnes, 17 years, Doffer (Mill), Mary, 10 years, and Margaret, 9 years.

George joined the Royal Irish Rifles.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France on the 14th of October 1915.

George Munce was a Rifleman in the 15th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action on the 1st of July 1916.

A local newspaper states.

Rifleman George Munce, Royal Irish Rifles, who had been missing since 1st July, 1916, is now officially reported killed on that date. Deceased was the only son of the late Mr Robert Munce, and his sisters live at 67 Tobergill Street, Belfast.

A memorial noticed placed in the Belfast Telegraph Newspaper in memory of Riflemen Henry McNeice and George Munce from Henry's wife Margaret McNeice, Nee Munce, sister of George, mentions her sister in law also, which implies that George was married by the time of his death.

His Soldiers Effects were left to his sisters, Annie Jane, Elizabeth Campbell Scott and Margaret McNeice.
