William Sloan lived with his wife Elizabeth at 180 Sugarfield, Shankill Road, Belfast.

He and Elizabeth Sloan, Nee Scott, were married on the 27th of April 1917.

William joined the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France on the 14th of April 1915.

William was a Private in C Company 1st Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he Died of Wounds on the 23rd of July 1917 aged 21 years.

A local newspaper states.

Pte William Sloan 2nd Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, wounded on the 22nd July in France.

Another states.

Private William Sloan, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, died on the 23rd ult of wounds received in action. His widow lives at 180 Sugarfield Street, Belfast.

Williams Soldiers Effects were left to his widow Elizabeth.

His Will, signed and dated 19th May 1917, left his Property and Effects to Elizabeth also.

Williams widow Elizabeth Sloan immigrated to Canada aboard the SS Empress of Britain on the 15th September 1921. His mother in law followed his wife to Canada, leaving aboard the SS Metagama on the 22nd March 1924, just as her stepbrother John Macauley had done so aboard the SS Regina in July 1923,
