The 1901 Ireland Census has Ramsey living at 4 Kathleen Street, Belfast, with his wife Martha, two daughters, Maggie and Lizzy, both under 1 year, his mother, Margaret, 57 years, and a boarder, Annie Campbell, 19 years, Mill Worker, Ramsey's occupation at this time is given as Mill Worker

.

The 1911 Ireland Census has Ramsey living at 3 Ohio Street, Woodvale, Greater Shankill, Belfast with his wife, occupation, Yarn Mill Worker, two sons Ramsey, 9 years, and James Hall, 5 years. His mother, Margaret, now 67 years, and two brother in laws, James, 25 years, General Labourer, and William, General Labourer, also live within the house. Ramsey's occupation is now given as Labourer In Shipyard

Ramsey married Martha Jane McClean, Nee Jones, on the 5th of January 1900 within Trinity Church, Belfast.

A newspaper article shows that Martha had a child, William George, born 7th February 1897, prior to marrying Ramsey.

Ramsey and Martha then had twin girls, Lizzie and Margaret born on the 15th of September 1900, however Lizzie died on the 29th October 1901, aged 13 and a half months, and Margaret then died on the 9th April 1903, aged 2 years 7 months.

They then went on to have son Ramsey on the 21st of September 1902, James Hall, on the 10th of August 1905, and Margaret on the 2nd of May 1914

Ramsey was a member of the North Belfast Ulster Volunteer Force

.

He signed the Ulster Covenant on the 28th of September 1912, Ulster Day

.

Ramsey enlisted as T3 030859, Driver, No1 H.Q Company, Army Service Corps, 36th Ulster Divisional Train, on the 19th of November 1914.

He was discharged, Unfit for the duties of the Corps, Para 392, (ix). Kings Regulations, on the 2nd of January 1915.

Ramsey reenlisted back in to the Royal Irish Rifles in 1915.

He was then posted as part of the British Expeditionary Forces to France on the 4th of October 1915.

Ramsey was a Rifleman in 16th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he Died of Wounds in France on the 11th of June 1916

A local papers states.

Private Ramsey McClean, Royal Irish Rifles, whose wife and family reside at 4, Ohio Street, Belfast, has just died in hospital of wounds sustained in action.

Another states.

In fond and loving memory of my dearly loved husband. 641 Private Ramsey McClean, 16th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, died of wounds on the 11thJune 1916 and was interred in St Myra (Havre) Cemetery. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing wife and family. Martha McClean, 5 Ohio Street

Ramsey received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914-1915 Star

He Is Remembered at Ste Marie Cemetery, Le Havre, France.
