David Brown, son of Sarah Jane Murphy, lived at 81 Argyle Street, Shankill Road, Belfast

Prior to enlistment David worked as a Brass Finisher

David joined the Royal Irish Rifles on the 13th January 1908.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France on the 13th August 1914.

David was a Rifleman in 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action near Vailly in France on the 15 September 1914 aged 23 years

A local newspaper states.

Pte D Brown, 2nd Battalion R.I.R, of 81 Argyle Street, Belfast, killed in action at Vailly

David's Soldiers Effects were left to his mother.

His Will, signed and dated 7th August 1914 left his Property to his mother.

Dependant Pension Application Forms show his mother as claimant also.

David received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914 Star.

He is Remembered at La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, France.
