William had married Elizabeth McCready, Nee McIlroy, on the 21st July 1911 in Saint Peters Church Belfast. Their daughter Mary Elizabeth was born before this on the 25th March 1911

The 1911 Ireland Census has William living at 13 Balkan Street, Belfast with his wife Elizabeth. His occupation at this time is given as General Labourer. A Patrick McIlroy, 20 years, and a Sarah Sloan, 78 years, are registered as Boarders within the house also
