Died: 22nd September 1914.

William Redmond, son of William and Isabella Redmond, lived with his wife and son at 51 Methuen Street, Belfast

The Census of England And Wales, 1911, Enumeration Book For The Royal Navy shows William aboard H.M.S Inflexible

.

William had married Annie Redmond, Nee Herbert, on the 16th June 1906. They went on to have their son Herbert on the 16th of October 1909.

William joined the Royal Navy on the 8th November 1906.

He served on a number of ships throughout his career, including the following: H.M.S Acheron, H.M.S Pembroke II, H.M.S Bacchante, H.M.S Hogue, H.M.S Inflexible, before ending on H.M.S Cressy.

William, aged 26 years, was a Stoker 1st Class within the Royal Navy when while serving aboard H.M.S Cressy he Drowned, Died At Sea, his ship having been attacked and sunk by a German Submarine on the 22nd September 1914.

A Service Document also explains that William had a tattooed arm, his tattoos consisted of crossed hands, with love Annie, flags of all nations, a memory stone with my dear father William. A bust of a woman and heart, the woman has a union jack. He also had a donkeys head. Y.M.L.D, Rose clasped hands with Faith, Hope and Charity

Annie, Williams wife, went on to remarry William Fearon on the 11th January 1915.

William received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914 Star

He is Remembered at Chatham Naval Memorial, United Kingdom.
