Charles Floyd, son of Charles and Margaret Floyd, was connected through his sister Margaret Cochrane, Nee Floyd, to 16 Lawnview Street, Shankill, Belfast.

Charles joined the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

He was posted as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on the 11th July 1915.

Charles was a Private in 6th Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was Killed In Action on the 16th August 1915 aged 26 years.

A local newspaper states

Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

Private Charles Floyd, 6th Batt Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers was killed In action at the Dardanelles on 16th August. Before enlisting at the outbreak of hostilities deceased was employed as a flax-dresser at Jennymount Mill. Three of his brothers are at Bordon with the Ulster Division. Their mother resides at Kilmakee, Dunmurry, his sister, Mrs Cochrane, living at 16 Lawnview Street, Belfast.

A letter within Charles Will states the following.

16 Lawnview St Belfast.

11th March 1916.

Dear Sir, In reply to your letter of the 17th Feb, of the late Private Charles Floyd, 6th Batt Royal Innis Fusiliers, regarding the disposal of his property in event of his death.

The answer to question 1.

(1) July 5th 1915 before he got on Heashem Steamer.

(2) David will you look after Rachel until I return home, if I do not come home I have left all in her favour.

(3) There was no person present when he said those words.
