James was a Private in 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was Killed In Action on the 21st August 1915 aged 21 years.

His Will, signed and dated the 10th July 1915 states the following, In the event of my death I give the whole of my property and effects to my mother.
