Thomas joined the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

He was posted as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on the 11th March 1915.

Thomas was a Private in 6th Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he Died Of Wounds whilst aboard Hospital Ship Guildford Castle on the 7th September 1915 aged 20 years.

Mr John McAfee, 16 Finlay Street, Wolfhill Ligoniel, has been notified that his son, Private Thomas McAfee, 6th Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, was killed at the Dardanelles on the 7th ult.

Thomas Soldiers Effects were left to his mother Mary Ann.

His signed Will states the following, In the event of my Death I leave all my effects and all my credit to my mother, Mrs McAfee, No 16 Finlay Street, Ligoniel Belfast.

His Pension Application Form shows his mother as claimant.

A Dependant Pension Application Form shows his mother as claimant also.

Thomas received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914-1915 Star.

He is Remembered at Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
