The 1901 Ireland Census has William living at 67 Laurelvale (Village) (Mullahead, Armagh) with his mother, father, occupation, Linen Weaver, 3 sisters, Mary Ann, 6 years, Lizzie, 5 years, Ellen, 3 years, and two brothers, Thomas Henry, 2 years, George, under 1 year. A Martha Weir, aged 65 years, occupation, Linen Weaver in Factory, is registered as a boarder within the house also.

The 1911 Ireland Census has William living at 24 Cochrane's Hill ( Mullahead (Rural), Armagh) with his mother, father, 5 sisters, Mary, Elizabeth, Ellen, Maggie Kathleen, 7 years, Emily, 1 year, and 2 brothers, Thomas Henry, Robert, and grandfather William John, 71 years. William John Finns occupation is given as Labourer at the time.

William enlistment into the Royal Irish Rifles on the 28th November 1916.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force on the 21st of April 1917.

William John Finn was a Rifleman in 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action on the 7th June 1917, aged 24 years.

Service Records record, tellingly and sadly, that William had a tattoo on his left forearm with the words, In Memory of my Mother x. His Record Of Service Paper shows William as living at Govan Road, Glasgow at the time of his enlistment.

A local newspaper states.

Rifleman W J Finn, Royal Irish Rifles, killed on 7th inst, was a son of Mr Henry Finn, 11 Paris Street, Belfast, late of Laurelvale, Tandragee.

This article was replicated in another newspaper.

Williams Solders Effects were left to his sister Elizabeth.

His Will, signed and dated 15th May 1917, left his Property and Effects to his sister Elizabeth.

Elizabeth also signed for Williams British War and Victory Medals on the 9th October 1922.

A Pension Application Form shows Williams father as claimant.

A Dependent Application Form shows Williams father Henry as claimant also.

He received the British War Medal and Victory Medal.

He is Remembered at Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium.
