William James McClements, son of William and Mary McClements, lived with his wife Ellen at 21 Leadbetter Street, Belfast.

The 1911 Ireland Census has William James living at 33 Christopher Street, Shankill Road, Belfast with his mother, three brothers, Samuel, 31 years, Labourer In Iron Works, John, 22 years, Labourer In Biscuit Factory, Frank, 19 years Labourer In Biscuit Factory, uncle Samuel Thompson, 43 years, Labourer In Iron Works, and another relative, Nellie, 23 years. Williams occupation is given as Van Man Labourer.

William had married Ellen McClements, Nee Hayes, on the 4th December 1910 and they went on to have two children, Samuel, born 19th December 1913, and Allen Hayes, born 28th of May 1915.

He had signed the Ulster Covenant on the 28th of September 1912, Ulster Day.

William joined the Royal Irish Rifles.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France on the 4th of October 1915.

William James McClements was a Rifleman in the 15th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action on the 21st of March 1918.

A local newspaper states.

McClements - Rifleman W J McClements Royal Irish Rifles, killed, was the husband of Mrs McClements 21 Leadbetter Street, Belfast.

Williams Soldiers Effects were left to his widow Ellen.

A Dependants Pension Application Form shows Williams widow Ellen, born 2nd December 1887, as claimant. It also shows that she had remarried a Joseph Partridge on the 24th January 1921 also.

He received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914-1915 Star.

He is Remembered at Pozieres Memorial, France.
