Robert had married Margaret Scott, Nee Aughey, within Trinity Church Belfast on the 15th December 1902. They went on to have five children, Alexander born 22nd August 1904, George 15th December 1906, Samuel 27th December 1908, William born 19th May 1911, and Mary aged 8 years in 1911

The 1911 Ireland Census has Robert living at 8 Oregon Street, Belfast with his wife, three sons, Alexander, George, Samuel, and daughter Mary. A Jane Scott, 66 years, described as a relative is registered as a Boarder within the house also. Roberts occupation is given as General Labourer at this time

Robert Scott signed the Ulster Covenant on the 28th of September 1912, Ulster Day within the Old Town Hall, Belfast.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France on the 12th of November 1914.
Robert was a Rifleman in 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action on the 7th of July 1916

Rifleman Robert Scott, Royal Irish Rifles, killed, served during the South African campaign. Prior to re-joining in August, 1914, deceased was employed at the Queens Island. He leaves a wife and five children., who reside at 15 Oregon Street

His Will signed and dated 29th of June 1916 left his Property to his wife.
A Pension Application Form shows his wife as claimant.
Dependant Application Forms shows us not only was his wife Margaret the claimant, but also that she had remarried. She had married David Campbell on the 19th June 1920 within Woodvale Presbyterian Church

Robert received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914 Star

He is Remembered at Thiepval Memorial, France.
