Francis, aged 11 years, occupation at this time is given as Half Time In Linen Mill

The 1911 Ireland Census has Francis family now living at 7 Malvern Street, Shankill Belfast. Francis father, occupation, Stone Mason, mother, brother Thomas, 18 years, Oiler In Mill, and three sisters, Annie, 15 years, Flax Doffer In Mill, Sarah, 13 years, Flax Doffer In Mill, and Mary, 8 years live within the house

Francis McCullough married Catherine McCullough, Nee Gresham, on the 12th July 1913 within Trinity Church Belfast. They went on to have daughter Catherine on the 16th May 1914

Francis joined the Royal Irish Rifles.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France on the 15th August 1914.

Francis was a Rifleman in C Company 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he Died on the 15th September 1914 in France aged 24 years

A local newspaper states.

Mrs McCullough 51 Tobergill Street, Belfast, will be glad to hear from anyone who can give her news of her husband, 8739 Private Frank McCullough, 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, reported wounded on the 15th September, and not heard since. McCullough was a reservist, and was formerly employed at Queens Island

.

Another states.

Private Frank McCullough (8739) 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles (C Company), who was reported wounded and missing on the 15th September last year at the Battle of Aisne, has not been heard of. Any information will be thankfully received by his wife at 39 Crosby Street, Belfast

Dependant Pension Application Forms show his wife as claimant.

They also show that Francis wife Catherine had remarried on the 2nd September 1917, and that although her pension was suspended due to her unknowingly committing bigamy, her husband already being married with children, it was reinstated after he was imprisoned and she was found to be innocent. Her address at this time is given as 39 Cosby Street, Shankill Road, Belfast. Catherine is also connected to 42 Cavour Street, Belfast. His parents address is given as 42 Downing Street, Shankill Road, Belfast.

Francis received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914 Star

He is Remembered at La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, France.
