John Crozier, son of Joseph and Margaret Crozier, lived with his wife and children at 127 Bellevue Street, Shankill Road, Belfast

John had married Jane Elizabeth Crozier, Nee Sloan on the 26th December 1910 within Saint Annes Church Of Ireland Church, Belfast. They went on to have two children, their names and dates of births are the following, Anna Mary born 1st November 1912, John George born 17th September 1914

John joined the Royal Irish Rifles.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France on the 15th August 1914.

John was a Rifleman in 1st Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action on the 9th May 1915 aged 32 years

A local newspaper states

The War Office notifies that Jack Crozier, 1st Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, was killed in action on 9th inst. His wife and family live at 127, Bellevue Street, Belfast

Johns signed Will which has a, or, page/s missing, and also has some unreadable words, reads the following.

My Dear Wife

Just a few lines to let you know I have landed over here in England just outside Dover and expect to go over to France..unreadable..but we are under Sealed Orders so we dont know until we land. I am hoping you are well and we Mary.unreadable .to mind about the insurance Book it is in the drawer.

A Dependant Pension Application Form shows Johns wife as claimant for herself and two children. This document also shows that she had remarried.

Jane Elizabeth Crozier, Nee Sloan, remarried John Loney on the 3rd November 1916.

John received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914 Star.

He is Remembered at Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.
