David married Annie Thompson, Nee Carlisle, within Saint Annes Church of Ireland Church Belfast on the 16th March 1912. They went on to have a daughter, Annie born 3rd December 1914

David joined the Royal Irish Rilfes.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France on the 13th October 1914.

David was a Rifleman within 1st Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he Died Of Wounds on the 12th May 1915 aged 23 years

ROYAL IRISH RIFLES.

Mrs Thompson, 32 Brownlow Street, Belfast, has received official notification that her husband, David, of the 1st Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, died in France on the 12th May of wounds received in action. Deceased was a reservist employed at the Queens Island. Another brother John, is serving with the colours in West Africa

David's Soldiers Effects were left to his widow Annie.

His Dependant Pension Application Form shows Annie as claimant.

It also shows that Annie had been remarried to a Robert John Scott McAdams, a Corporal within the Royal Irish Rifles, on the 14th December 1915, within Saint Annes Church of Ireland Church Belfast.
