James joined the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France on the 19th December 1914.

James was a Private in 2nd Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was Presumed to have Died, having been reported missing, on the 16th May 1915, aged 17 years. In fact he was just 3 days off his 18th birthday.

Private Robert Nugent, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, died on the 15th inst, of wounds received in action. He is the second son of five brothers serving with the colours to make the supreme sacrifice. Their parents reside at 31 Percy Street, Belfast.
