Alfred joined the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force on the 23rd August 1914.

Alfred was a Private in D Company, 2nd Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was Presumed to have Died, having been reported missing, on the 16th May 1915 aged 19 years

Mrs M Stewart, a widow, residing at 59 Canmore Street, Belfast, has just been informed that her son, Private Alfred Stewart, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, who was reported missing in May 1915, was killed on that date. A brother of the deceased soldier, Joseph, a private in the R.I.R, was killed at the battle of Hooge. Mrs Stewart has three other sons, and they are all doing their bit

His Will left all of his property and effects to his mother.
