He was posted as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on the 17th March 1915.

William Albert Victor Ward was a Lance Corporal in 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was Killed In Action on the 22nd May 1915 aged 25 years

Lance Corporal Wm. A. V. Ward (8665), 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, who, as previously reported, was killed in action at the Dardanelles on May 22, formerly resided at Wilton Street, Belfast. Deceased had been with the colours for nine years, all of which were served in India, leaving there for Rugby after the outbreak of war. He was chief templar of I.O.G.T in India. His sister, Mrs Clarke, resides at 11 Donegore Street, Belfast
