Alexander joined the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers

He was posted as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on the 17th March 1915.

Alexander was a Private in B Company 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was Killed In Action on the 7th June 1915 aged 24 years

A local newspaper states.

An official notice states that Private Alexander McArthur (9652), 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, has been killed in action at the Dardanelles. He was a brother of Mr Frank McArthur, 66 Tobergill Street, Belfast

Alexander's Soldiers Effects were left to his sister Martha.

His Will, signed and dated the 25th of April 1915 states the following, In the event of my death I leave all my belongings to my sister, Miss Martha McArthur, 53 Bowness Street, Belfast, Ireland.

Dependant Pension Application Forms also show Miss Martha McArthur, his sister, as claimant.

Alexander received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914 Star.

He is Remembered at Pink Farm Cemetery, Helles, Gallipoli, Turkey.
