Richard had married Agnes Reid, Nee Robinson, on the 4th of June 1913 within Saint Andrews Church Of Ireland Church, Belfast. They went on to have son Henry Robinson Reid on the 1st March 1914

Richard joined the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

He was posted as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on the 25th May 1915.

Richard was a Corporal in 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was Killed In Action on the 6th of August 1915 aged 29 years

Corporal Richard Reid, 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, a former employee of Belfast Tramways, was killed in the Gallipoli trenches in the early part of the last month. He resided at 78 Westmoreland Street, and rejoined the colours thirteen months ago on the outbreak of the war

Official intimation has been received that Corporal Richard Reid, 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers was killed in action on August 6 at the Dardanelles. Prior to being called up on the reserve deceased was employed on the Belfast Tramways. Two other brothers are in the army. Corporal Reid leaves a wife and child, who reside at 78 Westmoreland Street, Belfast. Mrs Reid has also two brothers serving with the 16th Royal Irish Rifles at Seaford
