Patrick was a Private in 6th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers when he was Killed In Action on the 9th of August 1915

News is at hand that Lance Sergeant Patrick Hamill 6th Batt Royal Irish Fusiliers, was killed at the Dardanelles on August 9. Deceased who had been sixteen years with the colours, served through the Boar campaign, and volunteered at the outbreak of the present war. He is survived by a wife and child, who reside at 24 Alton Street, Belfast

.

Patricks Soldiers Effects were left to his widow Mary.

Dependant Pension Application Forms show his widow as claimant for herself and child, and at the time of applying Mary lived at 22 Sydney Street, Belfast.

A Pension Card also shows that Patrick had used an alias at some stage, going under the name Smith, and was ranked as a Lance (Sergeant) Corporal.

Patrick received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914-1915 Star.

He is Remembered at Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
