A local newspaper states.

Private Joseph Prenter, Shropshire Light Infantry, previously reported missing and now reported killed in action, was a brother of Mr W.J Prenter, 83 Leopold Street

Josephs Soldiers Effects were left to his brother William John Prenter.

His Will, signed and dated the 18th August 1914 holds a letter that states the following, Dear Brother, just a few lines to let you know that I am in good health, hoping you are all the same, I have joined in H.M.S in Shrewsbury and was sent to Pembroke Dock and I expect to be sent to Belgium very soon but I will write and let you know when I am going from here, I am very sorry I did not write before I left Ireland, But I hope you will forgive me this time, you can tell them all I was asking for them, hoping they will forgive me for the last time as we might not see one another again. But if I return again I shall call and see you all. I hope the little ones are all doing well and in good health, I shall leave my will to you, if I get killed keep this in your possession and I shall keep your address also on me in case of accidents up the front, so I cannot say anymore at present.
