The 1901 Ireland Census has Richard living at 117 Silvio Street, Shankill, Belfast with his mother, father, occupation, Tramway Stable Groom, two sisters, Maude, 7 years, Lizzie, 1 year, and brother Thomas, 3 years

The 1911 Ireland Census has Richard living at 38 Fortingale Street, Shankill, Belfast with his father, Labourer In Ship Yard, brother Thomas, 14 years, Heater Boy in Ship Yard, and sister Lizzie, 11 years. Richard, aged 15 years, occupation at this time is given as Apprentice Boiler Maker

Richard joined the Royal Irish Rilfes.

He was posted as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on the 7th July 1915.

Richard was a Lance Corporal in 6th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action on the 10th August 1915 aged 20 years

An article concerning his brother Thomas gives mention to Richard and states the following.

Rifleman Thom Haydock 6th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, was wounded at the Dardanelles, and is present in Stobhill Hospital Glasgow. Before enlisting Haydock, who is a member of the North Belfast Regiment U.V.F., was employed by Messrs Workman, Clark And Co. Another brother, Richard, is also at the front with the R.I.R. Their father resides at 84 Fortingale Street, Belfast

Another newspaper states the following

Lance Corporal J. Haydock, 6th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, who has been wounded at the Gallipoli Peninsula, is a son of Mr Richard Haydock, 84 Fortingale Street, Belfast, whose son Thomas was wounded some time ago.

S.A.S.H have been unable to find anyone within this family with a name beginning with J, therefore believe that the J Haydock used within the newspapers is in fact Richard.

Richards Soldiers Effects were left to his father.

His Pension Application Form shows his father as claimant.

Dependant Pension Application Forms show his father as claimant also.
