Thomas was a member of the North Belfast Ulster Volunteer Force

He signed the Ulster Covenant on the 28th of September 1912, Ulster Day, within the Albert Hall, Shankill Road.

Thomas joined the Royal Irish Rilfes.

He was posted as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on the 10th July 1915.

Thomas was a Rifleman in 6th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action on the 11th August 1915, aged 18 years.

Mrs McComb, 58 Brownlow Street, Belfast, has been notified by the War Office that her son, Thomas McMeekin, 6th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, was killed at the Dardanelles. Deceased, who was eighteen years of age, enlisted shortly after the outbreak of war, and was a member of the North Belfast Regiment U.V.F
