Robert joined the Royal Irish Fusiliers..

He was posted as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on the 7th of August 1915.

Robert was a Private within 5th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers when he was Killed In Action on the 16th August 1915 aged 32 years.

Private R J Gibson, 5th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, who resided with his wife ay 26 Brennan Street, Belfast, was reported wounded at the Dardanelles on 16th August, and has not been heard of since. Any information would be thankfully received by his wife
