Before the outbreak of hostilities Private Quinn whose relatives reside at 12 Eighth Street, Shankill Road, was a postman in Antrim. He has four brothers in the army, one of whom, Samuel, also in the South Lancs., is reported missing since 24th October. A fifth brother laid down his life in the service of the country in South Africa, while serving with the colours during the Boer War. Thus Mrs Quinn, the mother of these soldiers, has the distinction of having given six sons to the Army, and if there were such a thing as a distinguished service decoration for mothers who give their sons to the Army, she would surely be entitled to recognition
