George Reynolds, son of Thomas Reynolds, lived with his wife and children at 62 Cavour Street, Shankill Road, Belfast

.

George had married Maggie Reynolds, Nee McClarnon on the 30th of June 1905 within Saint Anne's Church Belfast. He was based in Palace Barracks, Holywood, at the time of his wedding.

They went on to have three children, their names and dates of birth are as follows: George Felix born 22nd January 1906, Alice Mary born 9th of May 1912, Thomas born 21st December 1914

Before enlistment George worked as a musician

.

George joined the Royal Irish Fusiliers on the 12th of February 1894 in London, aged 14 years, serving as Private 4838 Reynolds.

He was placed within 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers and posted to India on the 3rd of September 1894.

On the 23rd March 1896 he was ( struck off Roll of Boys haven been appointed Bandsman Private ).

He was posted to Egypt on the 21st of December 1897.

On the 30th of September 1899 he was sent to South Africa.

He returned to India on the 17th of January 1903.

On the 15th of April 1903 George was appointed Lance Corporal.

George then requested to be reduced to Private on the 26th May 1906 and in doing so forfeited his G.C, Good Conduct, Badges, however on the 19th of November 1906 they were restored.

On the 11th of February 1906 George was Discharged, Termination of his period of Engagement, having served 12 years.

George as a reservist joined the Royal Irish Rifles at the outbreak of war.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France on the 19th of September 1914.

George was a Rifleman in 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action on the 27th of October 1914 in France

Mrs Reynolds, 62 Cavour Street, Belfast, has been notified that her husband, Sergeant George Reynolds, fell on October 27. He was a reservist, and prior to rejoining was a carter in the employment of Messrs Young, Queens Square. He leaves two children

.

George Soldiers Effects were left to his widow Margaret.

George received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914 Star.

He had also received the South African Medal with Clasps, Orange Free State, Transvaal and Talana, 1-4-1901, and the Kings South African Medal 1901-1902

He is Remembered at Le Touret Memorial, France.
