John Connor, son of David and Elizabeth Connor, lived at 92 Snugville Street, Shankill Road, Belfast

John joined the Royal Field Artillery.

He was posted as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force to Egypt on the 31st March 1915.

John was a Gunner in 460th Battery, 15th Brigade Royal Field Artillery when he was Killed In Action on the 9th October 1917 aged 33 years, and just a day after his birthday

BELFAST SOLDIER KILLED.

News is at hand that gunner John Connor Royal Filed Artillery, has been killed in action. His brother Harry made the supreme sacrifice in April 1915, while in action with the Canadians. Deceased was a Reserve man, and prior to being called up was employed at the Queens Island. He was a son of Mr David Connor, 92 Snugville Street, Belfast, who has received a communication from an officer, which states, The death of your son is a great loss to the battery. He was one of the best gunners we had and a regular soldier of the old type, who could always be relied upon. I knew him for nearly two years, and always found him one of the bravest of men
