Leonard joined the Canadian Infantry at Valcartier for the Duration of War on the 18th September 1914.

He left aboard the S.S Megantic on the 4th of October 1914.

Leonard was a Private in D Company, 15th Battalion, Canadian Infantry when he was Killed In Action on the 24th April 1915 aged 21 years

Mr Walter S Foster, 86 Dufferin Avenue, Bangor, is very anxious for information regarding his brother, Private Leonard Foster, D Company, 48th Highlanders,. 15th Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 1st Canadian Contingent, from whom he has not heard since the onslaught at Ypres. He has exhausted every source of information available without success in his effort to trace his whereabouts
