John Thompson, son of James and Sarah Thompson, lived at 57 Carnan Street, Shankill Road, Belfast

John (Jack ) joined the Royal Dublin Fusiliers.

He was posted as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on 25th of April 1915.

John was a Private in Y Company 1st Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers when he was Killed In Action at the Dardanelles, Gallipoli on the 25th April 1915

Mrs Thompson, 57 Carnan Street, Belfast is very anxious regarding the fate of her son, Private John Thompson (10468), Y Company 1st Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers, whom she has not heard from since April 25. A letter received by Mrs Thompson from a comrade states that John was killed at the landing at the Dardanelles, but no conformation is forthcoming from the War Office. Thompson has six years service, and came from Aden to England with his battalion last January. If any of the Fusiliers at present home on sick leave know anything as to his fate Mrs Thompson would be pleased to hear from them. Another son of Mrs Thompson's Hugh (2846), 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, was wounded on June 26 at the Dardanelles

Belfast Brothers Killed

A double bereavement has befallen the home of Mr and Mrs Thompson, 57 Carnan Street, Belfast, whose two sons have fallen at the Dardanelles. Private John Thompson, 1st Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers, who had six years service and came from India with his regiment, was killed on 25th April. His brother, Hugh James Thompson, 2st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, a reservist, who was employed at Messrs Mackies foundry, has died of wounds received on the 24th June. He was first removed to the Alexandria Hospital, and later died on his way home on the hospital ship Letitia
