James was a Rifleman in F Company 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action on the 2nd May 1915 aged 27 years

News is to hand that Rifleman James McIldoon, 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, was killed in action near Kemmel on the 2nd inst. Deceased was a reservist employed at Messrs Combe Barbour's, and his mother resides at 31 Oakley Street, Ballysillan, Belfast
