.

Footnote.

Within four local newspapers, from June 1915, it replicates and states the following

.

Private John Hanna, 1st Battalion Leinsters Regiment, who has died at Ypres from the shock caused by a shell explosion, was a nephew of Mr Thomas Heaney, 148 Ainsworth Avenue, Belfast.

Then within Johns Medal Roll Index Card its states that John Horner Died of Shell Shock.

SASH believes this article to be about the same person, yet some confusion has arose around his second name within the newspaper. We have checked a number of sources, Belfast Book Of Honour, C.W.G.C, Ancestry included, and cannot find a John Hanna, 1st Battalion Leinster Regiment, Died on the 4th, Same Day, 1915.

However given we understand the complexities of researching the Great War period and the Men that served, we feel that we most keep the possibility open
